Our Trainers

Irons Fitness has put together a "dream team" of trainers. The best of the best. Your trainers have over 25 years of combined experience. Several have advanced degrees in exercise science. All hold advanced certifications. They have been nationally ranked athletes. And they have been featured in nearly every form of media in the country, including; The Today Show, Good Morning America, ESPN, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washingtonian, and Bethesda Magazine.

Nick Irons

Nick is the President and founder of Irons Fitness. He is a personal trainer, author, and ultra-endurance athlete. He made national headlines when he became the first person in 70 years to swim the length of the Mississippi River and the first to swim it with the locks and dams of its "modern" form. His 1,550-mile swim was to raise national awareness and funding for multiple sclerosis (MS) research, the disease his dad lives with. Nick is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). This difficult and prestigious certification is given to a diverse group including strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, personal trainers, physicians, chiropractors, researchers, and educators. He is now recertified "With Distinction" a designation given only to the top 1% of all CSCS's. He is a certified TRX trainer.

Kim Teri

Kim, voted Bethesda's Best Personal Trainer 2008 & 2010, brings 20 years of dance experience to the fitness industry: classical training with the Pittsburgh Ballet, musical theater, modern and jazz dance at Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. Taking that foundation a step further into the world of Aerobics and Fitness, Kim won the highest honor of US World Women's Representative in the 1994 World Aerobic Championship followed by Ms. Fitness America and World Championship finalists. Group Exercise and Personal Training have given Kim a platform to pass along this wide range of experience to students and clients of all ages and levels. As a former Partner and Director of Elite Fitness of Precision Health & Fitness, that goal was realized in hundreds of students & clients - making their goals a reality. Kim is certified by American Council on Exercise, Mad Dogg Athletics (the original Spinning) and Fitness Anywhere (TRX Suspension Training).

Robert Teri

Robert combines 25 years experience and expertise in health, dance and fitness to train, teach and develop elite fitness programs. He remains on the cutting edge with certifications in Spinning, Pilates, Bosu, Kickboxing, Flexibility, TRX Suspension Training and Personal Training. Robert gained a wide range of skills as a former Director of Joy of Motion Dance Center, GX Director for Washington Sports Club and Partner in Precision Health and Fitness. Robert is a two-time National SportAerobics Champion where his experience as a competitor, coach and choreographer has developed numerous champions nationally & internationally. Robert holds certification in Group Exercise, Spinning, and Personal Training as well as membership in American Counsel on Exercise (ACE), United States Committee on Aerobics and Fitness (ASCAF) as well as the United States Cycling Federation (USCF). Robert's philosophy impossible is nothing and nothing is impossible.

Paul Davis

Paul Davis brings a unique mix of athletic prowess and military training to Irons Fitness.  As an NCAA quarterback in college and in the European Football League, he knows how to lead and go after a victory!   After his football career ended, Paul joined the United States Air Force, where he was a Basic Training Honor graduate and served, with distinction,  in the first gulf war.   When it comes to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle, Paul is one of the most passionate people you will ever meet.  His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and is why he is so successful with his clients.  His clients have included US Ambassadors, CEOs, and many more.

Marcia Liegey

Working in health and personal training for 12 years Marcia has worked with everyone from centenarians to teenagers. Cardio, strengthening, balance and flexibility are Marcia's four pillars to personal fitness. She provides variety, fun and collaboration of fitness training to meet the unique needs and personalized goals of each of her clients. She has no cookie cutter programs! Perhaps because she's like most American men and women, juggling home life, parenthood, volunteering and working outside the home -- Marcia has a deep empathy and realistic perspective to help clients refine goals and tackle them. She's been raising two kids, is "mom" also to an Irish Wolfhound and Chinese Sharpei, runs 5 miles a day, competes in races around the metro area and crossed the finish line of the 35th Marine Corps Marathon in 2010.

Angela Jackson

Angela was a competitive long distance runner in high school and college. She ran her first marathon at 19 years old. She still competes in marathons, trail runs, and adventure races. After having her two children, she decided to change her career and obtain a certification in personal training. She currently holds certifications through NASM for Personal Training, Corrective Exercise, AFAA Primary Group Exercise, Metabolic Effect, and TRX Sport Medicine. She has various certifications in nutrition, pre-natal and post-natal exercise, and various specific oriented training. When she is not training herself, her clients or spending time with her kids, she is giving back to the community. She has helped with fundraising for burn victims, coaching Special Olympics, working with ARC, and currently serves on the board of a local non profit that's purpose is to build and implement a sustainable education system in Kabale, Uganda.

Our Dietitian

Colleen Gerg is a Registered Dietitian with 20 years experience in counseling private nutrition clients and consulting corporations on employee health and wellness. Colleen provides nutrition counseling and support in person, by phone and via Skype sessions to those desiring to improve energy, gain muscle and lose fat, manage nutrition concerns such as insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, GI disturbances, food allergies and more. She provides culinary instruction via private and corporate cooking classes and webinar presentations.
